KEYNOTE SPEAKERS ANNOUNCED! Dr. Henrik Kehlet & Tracy Wasylak – ERAS Collaborative Outcomes Congress, Jan 12

The Enhanced Recovery Collaborative Outcomes Congress is an opportunity to celebrate our accomplishments, share lessons, results, and experiences with hospitals from across BC, and discuss the future of ERAS in the province with multi-disciplinary clinicians, executive leaders, patients, the Ministry of Health, and other stakeholders.

Keynote Speakers:

Henrik Kehlet is Professor of Perioperative Therapy at Rigshospitalet, Copenhagen University, Denmark. He is also an Honorary Fellow of the Royal College of Anaesthetists, UK, the American College of Surgeons, the American Surgical Association, the German Surgical Society and the German Anaesthesiological Society. Professor Kehlet’s research interests have focused on surgical pathophysiology, acute pain physiology and treatment, the transition from acute to chronic pain, postoperative fatigue and organ dysfunction. These efforts have condensed to form the concept of ‘fast-track surgery’ with the aim of achieving the ‘pain and risk-free operation’. Professor Kehlet has published more than 900 scientific articles and has given more than 300 invited lectures at international scientific meetings, including several honorary lectures. In 2014, the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) presented Dr. Kehlet with the Excellence in Research Award.

Tracy Wasylak is the Senior Program Officer, Strategic Clinical Networks with Alberta Health Services; she also serves as the Senior Provincial Director of the Surgery Strategic Clinical Network (SSCN), which has supported successful ERAS implementation in multiple sites across Alberta. She is a strong, innovative leader who has held numerous senior leadership roles within Alberta Health Services and the previous Calgary Health Region including Vice President, Rockyview General Hospital and South West Community Portfolio, Vice President, South Health Campus and also the Co-Lead of the Bone and Joint Clinical Network. She has an undergraduate degree in nursing from the University of Manitoba, Masters Degree in Science (thesis) from McGill University and graduated from the EXTRA Program through the Canadian Health Services Research Foundation. She is an active Canadian Health Services Executive through the Canadian College of Health Leaders. Tracy also holds an adjunct professor appointment, with the Faculty of Nursing at the University of Calgary.
